My testimony

So here's my hopefully "translation friendly" testimony in a nutshell, please let me know how i can make it better!

マレーシアでうまれ、オーストラリアでそだちました。or ( うまれはマレーシアで、そだちはオーストラリアです。)

My mother and father are Christians and they taught me about God. As a child, I went to church and sunday school. I was a very good student and learned all my memory verses and bible stories and got top marks at sunday school. I thought that if I was an obedient child and went to church, I could be good enough for God. But I did not understand that the Bible says, in Galatians 2:16 "We know that no one is made right with God by obeying the law. It is by believing in Jesus Christ. So we too have put our faith in Christ Jesus. That is so we can be made right with God by believing in Christ, not by obeying the law. No one can be made right with God by obeying the law."

When I was 10, my family moved from Sydney to a small country town. It was a big change in my life and I needed to take more responsibility for myself. At that time, I started thinking more about God. I wondered why I always went to church and whether I was good enough for God. My mother challenged me to trust in Jesus and follow God for myself. At that time, I realised that I needed to follow God not just because my parents follow him, but because he is my creator and ruler. I asked Jesus to be my lord and saviour. Now I trust Jesus to save me not because mum and dad trust him, but because he died for my sin to make me right with God.

Jesus says in Matthew 11:28 "Come to me, all of you who are tired and are carrying heavy loads. I will give you rest". Since I put my trust in Jesus, I now have this rest. I know that I don't have to work hard to be good enough for God. I know that I don't have to work hard to get into heaven. This gives me hope for the life I live now, and makes me want to tell other people about Jesus!

- usually when i give my testimony, i say something like "Now that i've told you my story, i'd like to ask you think about yourself - are you trusting in something you do to make you right with God? Is it going to church or giving to the poor or being a good person? Is it because you have Christian parents? God says that the only way to be right with him is to trust in Jesus and nothing else. Are you tired from trying to work your way to God? Do you feel loaded down because you are not good enough for him? Jesus invites us to trust in him and follow him so that we can be right with God." - is this appropriate for Japan or should i end at the end of the other paragraph?

if you have time, read: Blaise Pascal - Human Happiness (Penguin classics) or read the original Pensees at http://www.ccel.org/ccel/pascal/pensees.html - a really thought provoking book!

First part: Misery of man without God.

Second part: Happiness of man with God.

Or, First part: That nature is corrupt. Proved by nature itself.

Second part: That there is a Redeemer. Proved by Scripture.
